One week down...

May. 29th, 2006 | 04:45 am
mood: lonely lonely
music: The Eye - Mrnorth

Well, here I am, sitting in the basement of my Uncle's house in MA. Things are going...pretty well. I started orentation for work on Tuesday and started my shift on Thursday night (oh, for those of you who don't know, I'm working for about 12 weeks for a Family and Friends deal at Intel...the computer software company). At first I wasn't to sure about working the night shift, and actually it isn't that bad. The only thing is that I miss the entire day and now I'm awake at night and unable to go to sleep until really late (it's currently 5:10 am). My shift runs 7 pm to 7 am every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and everyother Saturday. Yeah, I know, it may seem pretty crappy, but hey, the team I work with is pretty fun and I'm making more money. The place I work in is called Fab 17. What Fab stands for, I have no idea. But the place is a factory for 200 mm wafers that computer chips are made out of. There are several different sections of the plant that do specific things. I don't know much about the other areas, but I'm learning a lot about the one I'm in. I work in Litho (short of lithography...which is....I have no idea) in the area of metro (again, I have no idea what that stands for). Basically, I inspect the wafers, put them into machines and move them around the plant. When they have finished the process in the litho area I take them to Implant or Etch (once again, I have no idea what those areas are). All I know, is that when things get slow in there, it gets really boring and when it's busy, I'm kinda happy because I have stuff to do. The only drawback to the job in general is wearing the damn clean room suit. I'm wearing a white zip-up body suit thing, with white boots that go over the pants and have rubber bottoms to ground me (electrical systems and such....don't want to ruin the lots (the wafers)), and a helmet type thing that blows air in my face so I don't over heat. (which is very possible because the place is kept at 72 degrees F at all times and 40% humidity). I look...interesting to say the least.

Living with my Uncle is actually not bad at all. I live in the basement, so its nice and dark during the day when I sleep (and cool). My cousins haven't been that bad because they really haven't been around much this week. They spend Monday's and Tuesday's with their mother and everyother weekend as well. So, this was one of those weeks. When they were home after school, I either wasn't awake yet or heading off to work in the evening. I normally don't get along very well with the two of them, because they're both pain in the asses. They are 11 and 13...and can be annoying as hell. Oh well, they're family...what can I do? Other than that, things have been great....except when it comes to the kitchen. I move in and I open the fridge...and what do I find? Not a single fruit or vegetable. All of the food is either prepackaged, frozen, or can be cooked...but there are also no spices to speak of. So, here I am in a Culinary Wasteland. I'm so glad that I know how to cook decently. I guess I'm going to have to cook my food or set up my meals for the week before I go to work because I find that I don't have the energy or will to do it while I'm working. Meh, I'll figure stuff out.

There has been one thing that has bothered me about being here though.... I don't really know anyone around here. Yes, I'm meeting some people at work, and some of them are my age, but they have a tendency to live about an hour away or so. It's kind of depressing with me hanging around the house. I miss having my friends around for me to call and go hang out with at a whim. Yes, I have friends within a driving distance....hour and a half to two hours away at most...but it's still not the same. I'm finding myself getting lonely. I mean, I did find someone that would be awesome to hang out with away from work....and is pretty cute as well. The one big thing though is that he left with his family today for a three week vacation to South Africa. Lol, just my luck right? Yes, he'll be back at work in a few weeks, but it's going to be hard to run into eachother. He's working days and I'm working nights. There is the chance that we'll run into eachother between shifts, but not likely. He's probably not going to be working in the same area in the Fab as I am, and I have to be in my section at 7 and the workers have to stay for pass downs until about 7:07. So....seeing eachother isn't going to be likely.  Ugh.

So anyway, I miss my friends from home, I miss my friends from college...and I'm bored. I want to visit people, but I have a gas tank to fill and a car who is being a pain in the butt...again. I'm getting lonely, and I don't know what to do about it. Yes, I need to go out and meet people...but that is a little hard at the moment. Meh.

...I need someone to cuddle with.

Taste of Chaos

Mar. 7th, 2006 | 09:08 pm
mood: satisfied satisfied
music: Ra - Only

Well, I must say that Taste of Chaos was pretty fucking awesome. The day started out with Cory, Kristen and I leaving here (school) around 1:30 so Kristen and I could get tickets. When we arrive at the Civic Center, it turns out that we are about 45 min early so we got into line and waited....and got really cold. Kristen and I didn't want to keep track of our jackets in the center so we went in there just wearing out shirts. Brrr....

Anyway, one person that I did not expect to see came...well...a few people actually came. My first surprise was running into Noel an all of his peirced glory. But I think the biggest surprise was running into Blake. I haven't seen him since he moved to Freeport at the beginning of my senior year, and all of the residual feelings that I thought had left me came back to the surface. After dating for a short time junior year, I had figured I had gotten over him pretty well. Hell, I've dated someone since then and had a fling? with someone else. But, jeez, I never expected to have those emotions come back to the surface, speaking that I'm interested in someone at the moment...

Ok, we get inside...the first band was...eh. Funeral for a Friend was really good, and so were some of the bands that played on the side stage. As I Lay Dying, Story of the Year and TREOS were really good. The crowd went insane when Atreyu, Thrice and Deftones played. Such fun. Ugh, I'm still sore from having a lot of crowd surfers land on me. Heh, I guess that is what I get for being near the front. Yes, being in front of the pit is an intersting experience. I didn't expect to find Blake in the crowd, but somehow I ended up being right behind him. Strange. So...I stuck with him for the rest of the show. Hah, Cory and Kristen were expecting me to make out with him, or kiss him at least. Well, I didn't... but kind of wanted to. I know that I shouldn't have been feeling like that, but I couldn't help it. Oh well, what is past is past.

Oh, I had an amazing time last night, the headache, sore knees, back and neck were sooooo worth it. I must go again next year. :)

Like Father, like Daughter

mood: irritated irritated

Ok, things run in families...genetics, mannerisms and such. But jeez, how would luck find this one...

A couple of weeks ago my Dad got into an accident in the UMPI parking lot. He was driving and a kid backed into our truck. Fun amount of damage and the like. As of right now the truck passenger door doesn't open and if another person wants to get in, they have to crawl through the drivers side to get in. Ok, fine...they're getting that fixed Monday. But like father like daughter...my car was backed into today at the mall parking lot. Ugh. I was parked in the driving area talking to my dance teacher from highschool. And what do you know, and old lady in a Subaru backs into my car...and I was right there...parked. She said that I looked like the pavement. Ok.... she was nice though and we did the whole exchanging insurance info and the like. Fine, come to find out...the passenger door on my car won't open now either. (Well, it opens about 6 inches). The damage isn't bad, but as I said...why does this has to run in my family? Ugh.

So, how was your day?

Well...last night was interesting

Feb. 1st, 2006 | 09:36 am
mood: stressed stressed
music: Death Cab for Cutie - Crooked Teeth

It was one of those normal days, you know? Where you attend classes, make an ass of yourself with the other work study during class, and have an all out good time. My last class of the day this semester is 3-D Design which is from 5-7:30. Usually I go to the gym after class because....it's conveinent. So as I walk in I see someone at the other end of the couter in a wheelchair...ok...someone got hurt. Well, as I walk past, I find that it is Colleen and Kristen was icing her ankle. ...as it turned out, my workout for the night was powerwalking back to my dorm with Kristen, grabbing some homework, down the the parking lot and driving back to the HFC.

Too the hospital we go...
We get there, sit around for a bit. Colleen gets checked out and Kristen and I find ways to entertain ourselves and to make Colleen laugh. I think we succeeded ^^. All in all we were there from about 8:30 - 11 last night. During that time, I got a little homework done, made Colleen laugh and find some strange food in the vending machines in the cafe. We find out that it is a bad sprain of two ligaments in her ankle and that she isn't allowed to put any weight on it for atleast three days. Ok, fine.

So anyway...
We come back to Scott. Kristen parks in front, puts her hazards on and we do our best to get Colleen out of the car, through the snow and onto the sidewalk so we can get her inside without slipping and falling. But, how ironic, during our adventure of getting Colleen back inside, and within the two minutes Kristen and I were inside, she gets a ticket for parking in front. We were not impressed to say the least, and when we get back from parking her car down in Prescott, we find that no one is at public safety. Grrrrrrrreat. So today she's going to either go talk to them about it or write an exceedingly "nice" letter talking about morals. Hehehe. I love Kristen.

So anyway, that was my night last night. And during that process I hardly got any reading done for my Child and Adolescent Development class in which we have a quiz today at 11. Yay.

Five Weird Habits
The first player of this game starts with the topic "Five Weird Habits of Yourself" and the people who get tagged need to then write a LJ entry about their five quirky little habits as well as state the rules of this game clearly. In the end, you need to list the next five people who you want to tag, and then go on to leave a tag comment on their LJ.

1. I check my email more than 5 times a day at school because I can. Silly wireless.

2. I put my contacts in in the shower...and yell at myself if I forget them in my room. What's the point of walking all the way back when I'm dripping wet when I can put them in when I get back.

3. I walk around in my room in my underware while getting dressed, and dance to music in the process. ^^

4. I eat kiwi with the skin on.

5. I abhor biting of nails. I yell at them to stop and yet I bite mine when one breaks, to even it out.

Tag: Sean, Cory, Kae....and I think that's all I want to tag.

Last night was soooooooooooo AMAZING!!!

mood: Giddy Giddy
music: mrnorth - Speak No Evil

Ok, last night Colleen and I drove down to Portland to see the OAR concert. Wow, what an amazing night. I didn't know what to expect when we went, but I did know that OAR was awesome live. So, in we go with a wonderful night in store for us. Not only was OAR completely and utterly amazing, but the two opening bands completely floored me.

It started off with mrnorth from Ireland. ...orgasmic...that is all I can say. They're wonderful live (go listen to them on myspace). Anyway, bought their cd after the show and got it autographed by the lead singer *dies* We did all we could to contain ourselves in front of the Irish men. Colin is an amazing singer and knows how to put on a show. They're performing with OAR for the next week or so...so glad that we were there for their first night.

The second band was As Fast As from Portland. They have been on tour with OAR for the past month now, and I completely understand why. I now have their sample cd because they weren't selling full cd's there. But anyway, they too know how to put on a show. The lead singer not only plays guitar but the keyboard and ukalale (spelling...don't really care at the moment). Crazy awesome!

OAR was ........I can't put it simply...wonderful. I am so glad that my mom got the tickets for me as an early Christmas present. If she didn't....I probably would have bought the tickets myself. Anyway, they played beautifully live (as always) and I seriously didn't want to leave the concert. I didn't give a shit that it was raining outside when we left, I was on such an adrenaline rush. Wow. Wow, wow, wow. I would recomend OAR for everyone.

The ride back was fun....except for the tractor trailer trucks that seemed to want to kill us and the ever changing rain patterns. Ugh. Got back at 2 am and then couldn't sleep. But....who cares anyway!

Long time, no update

music: Vindicated - Dashboard Confessional

So, college has turned out to be an awesome thing. I'm enjoying my classes (well...most of them) and things are going pretty well. I actually love living in the dorm atmosphere, though when one is trying to get work done, it can be pretty difficult. One must learn that when one is studying to close the door...and lock it. That makes things so much easier, but I still have a hard time concentrating. I guess those are the joys of living on a wireless campus... free access to the internet at all times. Ugh...I love it, it is so fast, but can be so distracting.

But, I do miss home a bit. I have the biggest urge to go home and spend time with my cats. Just my cats. LOL I'm such a dork, I know. But my boys are my life and I well....miss them. Oh well, I'll get home eventually...when I'm not working on my work study. My schedule is so hard to work things around, and it makes it almost impossible to go home on the weekends. I work every Saturday from 12-6 in the basement of Merril Hall (that's on the UMF campus) in the shop (which is basically the 3-D art room and advanced sculpture)....so I get to play with power tools. ^^ I likes power tools.

Anyway, back to my Chinese Culture paper (which I think is pretty pointless) about how the climate affects the people who live there. Whatever. Then, off to bed...I'm getting sick. Bleh...stupid sinus issues.

It hit me last night. I'm going to be at college in a week. It was a baffling thought and it gave me such a myriad of emotions...that even this morning I'm still trying to sort them out. In many ways I'm ready to take that step off to college, but in other ways I'm not. I guess my nerves are starting to get to me and I don't know what to do with them. Packing is turing out to be a bitch and a half. ^^ I swear, my room exploded and I don't know which way is up. (Well, I do...but still)

*le sigh* I'm heading down to Bangor on Tuesday to get my new glasses and I might be heading downstate for a few days. I haven't decided on that yet. All I know is that I'm so hally to be done at Sitel. Who knew that hell had air conditioning and padded rolly chairs. *shudders* I never ever want to be a telemarketer again...unfortuantely I'm going back to it at Christmas.....meh.

Oh well.
