One week down...

Well, here I am, sitting in the basement of my Uncle's house in MA. Things are going...pretty well. I started orentation for work on Tuesday and started my shift on Thursday night (oh, for those of you who don't know, I'm working for about 12 weeks for a Family and Friends deal at Intel...the computer software company). At first I wasn't to sure about working the night shift, and actually it isn't that bad. The only thing is that I miss the entire day and now I'm awake at night and unable to go to sleep until really late (it's currently 5:10 am). My shift runs 7 pm to 7 am every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and everyother Saturday. Yeah, I know, it may seem pretty crappy, but hey, the team I work with is pretty fun and I'm making more money. The place I work in is called Fab 17. What Fab stands for, I have no idea. But the place is a factory for 200 mm wafers that computer chips are made out of. There are several different sections of the plant that do specific things. I don't know much about the other areas, but I'm learning a lot about the one I'm in. I work in Litho (short of lithography...which is....I have no idea) in the area of metro (again, I have no idea what that stands for). Basically, I inspect the wafers, put them into machines and move them around the plant. When they have finished the process in the litho area I take them to Implant or Etch (once again, I have no idea what those areas are). All I know, is that when things get slow in there, it gets really boring and when it's busy, I'm kinda happy because I have stuff to do. The only drawback to the job in general is wearing the damn clean room suit. I'm wearing a white zip-up body suit thing, with white boots that go over the pants and have rubber bottoms to ground me (electrical systems and such....don't want to ruin the lots (the wafers)), and a helmet type thing that blows air in my face so I don't over heat. (which is very possible because the place is kept at 72 degrees F at all times and 40% humidity). I look...interesting to say the least.

Living with my Uncle is actually not bad at all. I live in the basement, so its nice and dark during the day when I sleep (and cool). My cousins haven't been that bad because they really haven't been around much this week. They spend Monday's and Tuesday's with their mother and everyother weekend as well. So, this was one of those weeks. When they were home after school, I either wasn't awake yet or heading off to work in the evening. I normally don't get along very well with the two of them, because they're both pain in the asses. They are 11 and 13...and can be annoying as hell. Oh well, they're family...what can I do? Other than that, things have been great....except when it comes to the kitchen. I move in and I open the fridge...and what do I find? Not a single fruit or vegetable. All of the food is either prepackaged, frozen, or can be cooked...but there are also no spices to speak of. So, here I am in a Culinary Wasteland. I'm so glad that I know how to cook decently. I guess I'm going to have to cook my food or set up my meals for the week before I go to work because I find that I don't have the energy or will to do it while I'm working. Meh, I'll figure stuff out.

There has been one thing that has bothered me about being here though.... I don't really know anyone around here. Yes, I'm meeting some people at work, and some of them are my age, but they have a tendency to live about an hour away or so. It's kind of depressing with me hanging around the house. I miss having my friends around for me to call and go hang out with at a whim. Yes, I have friends within a driving distance....hour and a half to two hours away at most...but it's still not the same. I'm finding myself getting lonely. I mean, I did find someone that would be awesome to hang out with away from work....and is pretty cute as well. The one big thing though is that he left with his family today for a three week vacation to South Africa. Lol, just my luck right? Yes, he'll be back at work in a few weeks, but it's going to be hard to run into eachother. He's working days and I'm working nights. There is the chance that we'll run into eachother between shifts, but not likely. He's probably not going to be working in the same area in the Fab as I am, and I have to be in my section at 7 and the workers have to stay for pass downs until about 7:07. So....seeing eachother isn't going to be likely. Ugh.

So anyway, I miss my friends from home, I miss my friends from college...and I'm bored. I want to visit people, but I have a gas tank to fill and a car who is being a pain in the butt...again. I'm getting lonely, and I don't know what to do about it. Yes, I need to go out and meet people...but that is a little hard at the moment. Meh.

...I need someone to cuddle with.

Taste of Chaos

Well, I must say that Taste of Chaos was pretty fucking awesome. The day started out with Cory, Kristen and I leaving here (school) around 1:30 so Kristen and I could get tickets. When we arrive at the Civic Center, it turns out that we are about 45 min early so we got into line and waited....and got really cold. Kristen and I didn't want to keep track of our jackets in the center so we went in there just wearing out shirts. Brrr....

Anyway, one person that I did not expect to see came...well...a few people actually came. My first surprise was running into Noel an all of his peirced glory. But I think the biggest surprise was running into Blake. I haven't seen him since he moved to Freeport at the beginning of my senior year, and all of the residual feelings that I thought had left me came back to the surface. After dating for a short time junior year, I had figured I had gotten over him pretty well. Hell, I've dated someone since then and had a fling? with someone else. But, jeez, I never expected to have those emotions come back to the surface, speaking that I'm interested in someone at the moment...

Ok, we get inside...the first band was...eh. Funeral for a Friend was really good, and so were some of the bands that played on the side stage. As I Lay Dying, Story of the Year and TREOS were really good. The crowd went insane when Atreyu, Thrice and Deftones played. Such fun. Ugh, I'm still sore from having a lot of crowd surfers land on me. Heh, I guess that is what I get for being near the front. Yes, being in front of the pit is an intersting experience. I didn't expect to find Blake in the crowd, but somehow I ended up being right behind him. Strange. So...I stuck with him for the rest of the show. Hah, Cory and Kristen were expecting me to make out with him, or kiss him at least. Well, I didn't... but kind of wanted to. I know that I shouldn't have been feeling like that, but I couldn't help it. Oh well, what is past is past.

Oh, I had an amazing time last night, the headache, sore knees, back and neck were sooooo worth it. I must go again next year. :)

Like Father, like Daughter

Ok, things run in families...genetics, mannerisms and such. But jeez, how would luck find this one...

A couple of weeks ago my Dad got into an accident in the UMPI parking lot. He was driving and a kid backed into our truck. Fun amount of damage and the like. As of right now the truck passenger door doesn't open and if another person wants to get in, they have to crawl through the drivers side to get in. Ok, fine...they're getting that fixed Monday. But like father like daughter...my car was backed into today at the mall parking lot. Ugh. I was parked in the driving area talking to my dance teacher from highschool. And what do you know, and old lady in a Subaru backs into my car...and I was right there...parked. She said that I looked like the pavement. Ok.... she was nice though and we did the whole exchanging insurance info and the like. Fine, come to find out...the passenger door on my car won't open now either. (Well, it opens about 6 inches). The damage isn't bad, but as I said...why does this has to run in my family? Ugh.

So, how was your day?

Well...last night was interesting

It was one of those normal days, you know? Where you attend classes, make an ass of yourself with the other work study during class, and have an all out good time. My last class of the day this semester is 3-D Design which is from 5-7:30. Usually I go to the gym after class because....it's conveinent. So as I walk in I see someone at the other end of the couter in a wheelchair...ok...someone got hurt. Well, as I walk past, I find that it is Colleen and Kristen was icing her ankle. ...as it turned out, my workout for the night was powerwalking back to my dorm with Kristen, grabbing some homework, down the the parking lot and driving back to the HFC.

Too the hospital we go...
We get there, sit around for a bit. Colleen gets checked out and Kristen and I find ways to entertain ourselves and to make Colleen laugh. I think we succeeded ^^. All in all we were there from about 8:30 - 11 last night. During that time, I got a little homework done, made Colleen laugh and find some strange food in the vending machines in the cafe. We find out that it is a bad sprain of two ligaments in her ankle and that she isn't allowed to put any weight on it for atleast three days. Ok, fine.

So anyway...
We come back to Scott. Kristen parks in front, puts her hazards on and we do our best to get Colleen out of the car, through the snow and onto the sidewalk so we can get her inside without slipping and falling. But, how ironic, during our adventure of getting Colleen back inside, and within the two minutes Kristen and I were inside, she gets a ticket for parking in front. We were not impressed to say the least, and when we get back from parking her car down in Prescott, we find that no one is at public safety. Grrrrrrrreat. So today she's going to either go talk to them about it or write an exceedingly "nice" letter talking about morals. Hehehe. I love Kristen.

So anyway, that was my night last night. And during that process I hardly got any reading done for my Child and Adolescent Development class in which we have a quiz today at 11. Yay.

In the end, you need to list the next five people who you want to tag, and then go on to leave a tag comment on their LJ.

1. I check my email more than 5 times a day at school because I can. Silly wireless.

2. I put my contacts in in the shower...and yell at myself if I forget them in my room. What's the point of walking all the way back when I'm dripping wet when I can put them in when I get back.

3.
Last night was soooooooooooo AMAZING!!!

Ok, last night Colleen and I drove down to Portland to see the OAR concert. Wow, what an amazing night. I didn't know what to expect when we went, but I did know that OAR was awesome live. So, in we go with a wonderful night in store for us. Not only was OAR completely and utterly amazing, but the two opening bands completely floored me.

It started off with mrnorth from Ireland. ...orgasmic...that is all I can say. They're wonderful live (go listen to them on myspace). Anyway, bought their cd after the show and got it autographed by the lead singer *dies* We did all we could to contain ourselves in front of the Irish men. Colin is an amazing singer and knows how to put on a show. They're performing with OAR for the next week or so...so glad that we were there for their first night.

The second band was As Fast As from Portland. They have been on tour with OAR for the past month now, and I completely understand why. I now have their sample cd because they weren't selling full cd's there. But anyway, they too know how to put on a show. The lead singer not only plays guitar but the keyboard and ukalale (spelling...don't really care at the moment). Crazy awesome!

OAR was ........I can't put it simply...wonderful. I am so glad that my mom got the tickets for me as an early Christmas present. If she didn't....I probably would have bought the tickets myself. Anyway, they played beautifully live (as always) and I seriously didn't want to leave the concert. I didn't give a shit that it was raining outside when we left, I was on such an adrenaline rush. Wow. Wow, wow, wow. I would recomend OAR for everyone.

The ride back was fun....except for the tractor trailer trucks that seemed to want to kill us and the ever changing rain patterns. Ugh. Got back at 2 am and then couldn't sleep. But....who cares anyway!

Sad but true

You might be from a small town if...
1. You can name everyone you graduated with.
2. You know what 4-H is.
3. You ever went to a party that was held about 20 miles down a deserted dirt road.
4. You used to drag "main."
5. You said the 'F' word and your parents knew within an hour.
6. You schedule parties around the schedule of
different police officers since you know which ones would bust you.
7. You ever went or thought about going cow-tipping.
8. School gets canceled for a sports team going to State
9. You could never buy cigarettes because all the store clerks knew how old you were.
10. When you did find someone old enough to buy smokes for you, you had to drive down country backroads to smoke them. 11. You never missed a Homecoming parade.
12. You still go home for Homecoming.
13. It was cool to date someone from a neighboring town.
14. You had a senior skip day.
15. The whole school went to the same party after graduation.
16. You can't help but date a friend's ex.
17. Your car is always filthy from the dirt backroads.
18. You think that kids who ride skateboards are weird.
19. The town next to you is considered "trashy" or
"snotty" when it is just like your town.
20. Getting paid minimum wage is considered a raise.
21. You refer to anyone with a house newer than 1980 as the "rich people."
22. The people in the big city dress funny then you
pick up on the cool new trend two years later.
23. You bragged to your friends because you got pipes on your truck for your birthday.
24. On Fridays, anyone you want to find can be
found at Main Street or the local restaurants.
25. Weekend excitement involves a trip to Walgreens.
26. Even the ugly people enter beauty contests.
27. You decide to walk for exercise and 5 people pull over and ask you if you need a ride.
28. Your teachers call you by your older sibling's name.
29. The closest "cool stores" are at least 45 miles away.
30. You laugh your head off reading this because you know it's true and then forward it to everyone in your address book, which is actually half your town

Long time, no update

So, college has turned out to be an awesome thing. I'm enjoying my classes (well...most of them) and things are going pretty well. I actually love living in the dorm atmosphere, though when one is trying to get work done, it can be pretty difficult. One must learn that when one is studying to close the door...and lock it. That makes things so much easier, but I still have a hard time concentrating. I guess those are the joys of living on a wireless campus... free access to the internet at all times. Ugh...I love it, it is so fast, but can be so distracting.

But, I do miss home a bit. I have the biggest urge to go home and spend time with my cats. Just my cats. LOL I'm such a dork, I know. But my boys are my life and I well....miss them. Oh well, I'll get home eventually...when I'm not working on my work study. My schedule is so hard to work things around, and it makes it almost impossible to go home on the weekends. I work every Saturday from 12-6 in the basement of Merril Hall (that's on the UMF campus) in the shop (which is basically the 3-D art room and advanced sculpture)....so I get to play with power tools. ^^ I likes power tools.

Anyway, back to my Chinese Culture paper (which I think is pretty pointless) about how the climate affects the people who live there. Whatever. Then, off to bed...I'm getting sick. Bleh...stupid sinus issues.

6 more days

It hit me last night. I'm going to be at college in a week. It was a baffling thought and it gave me such a myriad of emotions...that even this morning I'm still trying to sort them out. In many ways I'm ready to take that step off to college, but in other ways I'm not. I guess my nerves are starting to get to me and I don't know what to do with them. Packing is turing out to be a bitch and a half. ^^ I swear, my room exploded and I don't know which way is up. (Well, I do...but still)

*le sigh* I'm heading down to Bangor on Tuesday to get my new glasses and I might be heading downstate for a few days. I haven't decided on that yet. All I know is that I'm so hally to be done at Sitel. Who knew that hell had air conditioning and padded rolly chairs. *shudders* I never ever want to be a telemarketer again...unfortuantely I'm going back to it at Christmas.....meh.

Oh well.

I'm on such an adrenaline high......it's fucking nuts!

You know, I think tonight was one of the best nights I've had in a while. Well...my day wasn't the best, work seemed to drag on forever and I thought it was never going to end. But when it did, Klinte went back to my house, I changed and we went to meed Ash, Ben and Em before heading out to Fort. Since it's Potato Blossom Festival weekend, there was a street dance tonight. We went...well Klinte and I went to the pagent (which my friend Kaitlyn, from Mapleton, won) and the other three went into the town. Afterwards we all were down at the "dance" and went on a search for food. Don't get me wrong, there was a ton of it everywhere, but Klinte didn't want anything greasy......silly french boi. I ran into my friend Eric, of whom I haven't seen since school ended. (Which reminds me, I owe him a beating because he didn't graduate ^^) I talked to him for the majority of the time, while trying to figure out what to do for the rest of the night.

Ben and Klinte wanted to go out and party somewhere, I have uber strict parents who wouldn't let me stay out past one, and Ash wanted to go home. Well....we came up with a plan: Stealing cones.

After driving around town to find one, we headed for the Fort bridge because it's under construction at this time. I tried to grab a small yellow one (it's a long plastic yellow tube that's cemented to the ground) which didn't work. We ran into 'Chelle, Audrey and Stan who were having a similar idea. All in all, we managed to steal one of the yellow ones and after making one last pass; Stan, Aud and I got one of the huge orange ones (big huge circular ones that reflects) and tossed it into the back of Chelle's truck...with Stan and I back there with it (holding a towel over it if I might add ^^) Drove back through town for me to get my car from the parking lot of the Tiki bar and making my way back home just before 1. =) I think I had a good night.

Goodbyes are always hard

It all began back in August. I met a girl at school, of whom would be one of the most amazing people I have ever met. She's funny, smart, talkative, rather gullible...but so much fun to be around. Almost instantly we became friends. We spent a lot of time together, whether it was watching soccer games, going to cross-country meets, the mall, my swim meets, ym, or just hanging out. Wherever we went, laughter wasn't far behind.

She was always there for me, and was always willing to listen...no matter what. I was there for her when she was having issues with her family, and I'm glad to be the one who opened her up her heart and to be the shoulder she cried on.

The worst day I think was the last day she was at our school. We didn't know where she was going, or what family she was going to move in with. I remember the funny looks we got in the hall when we were just hugging eachother crying our eyes out. Personally, I don't really care. This girl became my best friend in just a short time. On that day, it felt that I was losing a part of myself. I never wanted to let go, and I'm glad I never did.

I shortly thereafter found out that she was relocated to Hampden. It wasn't that far of a distance, but it was long enough. The next time I saw her was for prom. She stayed at my house that weekend, and all of my memories with her came rushing back. I couldn't help but smile all weekend, and I'm glad that she got to feel like the princess that she is.

Yesterday I drove down to Bangor to see her one last time. We hung out, talked, went to the movies, reminised, talked some more and tried not to think about her leaving. Well, that was a futile attempt. After making it through the morning, I couldn't hold myself together anymore. As the tears streamed down our cheeks, we held hands and hugged as much as we could. Neither of us wanted to let go...and I still don't.

Erin, you are my wonderful and crazy Aussie. You're the best friend that I could have never asked for and the sister that I never had. I'm going to miss you so much, and I will never forget your time here. We've been through so much, and I love you for it. I will love you always, and I know that somehow we will meet again. I miss you already.

Graduation and beyond

Graduation weekend was a blast. About half of my family came up from various places, which was really cool. We had our family party thing on Saturday night, and I recieved butt loads of money (mostly going to get used on books). Though earlier that day, I spent my time with my cousin Erin. She's going into high school next year, and is actually quite a cool person. What did surprise me though was the fact that she's gothic now. I walked into my house Friday night to pick up some stuff before I went out with some friends, and I recieved quite a surprise when I saw her. Meh, it doesn't bother me at all. If that is what she wants to do, so be it. (I think it looks cool on her personally)

Sunday morning was interesting. I woke up to a thunderstorm, and a complete downpour. wo0t! I love thunderstorms. (as it turns out, my brother left the windows of his car open all night, so his seats were soaked...hehehehe) But, the weather cleared in time for graduation...and became a complete heat wave. Who ever said graduation robes were cool and airy were lying! Even though graduation was cut down to just over an hour, wearing the robe, two sashes, a cold cord and a cap was completely ...ugh....torture. Our music director was handing out bottles of water to us so we wouldn't get dehydrated. Bleh. Took pictures with the family, and left for Project Grad.

Project Grad was a completely awesome! I left on the first bus to whitewater rafting, and arrived at Magic Falls around...9:30 I think. We watched movies, tried some quizes from Kokology, and get extremely concerned over Marisa. Marisa ended up being dehydrated and scared the shit out of a lot of us. She ended up being delusional as to where she was ....not good. She was much better when we got to Magic Falls (thank God). We ate pizza, played poker, danced, went into the hot tub, threw glow rings as frisbees and began to give massages to calm down as the second bus showed up. Then...everything began all over again.

Lights out was supposed to be at 2...bwhahahaha....yeah right. The girls tried to get some sleep...which was futile in its attempt. The guys decided to stay up all night...and they weren't quiet about it. Some got the bright idea to throw a 3/4 full can of axe into the fire. ...I'm glad that Cale was in track or else he would have lost his leg. ...Got up just before 5 (waaaaaay too early), sat around, got bored, packed up our stuff, went got breakfast, made groups for rafting and recieved all of our equipment.

Going through the rapids were a lot of fun...weeeeeee! But, when we got to the "Swimmer's Rapids", I stupidly jumped in with practically my entire raft. DAAAAAAAAAAMMMNN...that water was cold. *shudders in memory* We had a grand ol' time pushing eachother in the river...and freezing because of it. The only warm place in the entire river was at the waterfall. *sighs* Warm water is nice....even if it is pounding on your head (wo0t for helmets). We played games on the raft (tog of war and running around the blue outer tube) All in all, the trip was awesome....except the bug bites and the ride back.

Shortly before the bus I was supposed to get on arrived at Magic Falls it's air conditioning died. It was almost 100 degrees out, and we had no air conditioning. Ugh........we all practically died. Since it was about 97outside, then it was anywhere from 85-92 degrees on the bus. Gross. Those were the longest 2 1/2 hours of my life I've had so far. We got a new bus in Old Town *cheers* and the ride back home was much better.

The rest of the week kind of sucked. I spent most of my time looking for a job. It was really crappy though that on my way to applying somewhere, I had to go back home before I puked my guts out. Lovely, no? I applied and was accepted at Sitel today (a kind of telemarketing firm) The only issue is that training starts on Monday. All this coming week I have rehersals for my dance recital...in the evening, just when the training takes place. I was told that I cannot miss a single training session, so I should come back and train the 5th. My dad is pissed that I didn't take up the offer immediately and basically say screw it to dance. But *sighs* it's my last dance recital...ever. So, I'm in a bind and rather upset. I hate overbearing parents at times, but they need to be I guess.
